Brussels Speaks Many Languages: EUTOPIA Autumn School 2026
Brussels – A City of Encounters and Diversity
Experience multilingualism where it’s part of everyday life
From November 9 to 13, 2026, the EUTOPIA Autumn School “A Linguistic and Literary Perspective on Multilingual Societies” invites students from the EUTOPIA network to Brussels. In this multilingual European metropolis, different languages, cultural experiences, and academic perspectives come together.
Together with students and faculty from various EUTOPIA universities, you will spend five days exploring multilingualism and its social and cultural facets.
The focus will be on:
- Languages in Everyday Life: Communication and Coexistence in Multilingual Societies
- Language and society: language policy and dealing with linguistic diversity
- Multilingual Lifestyles: Personal Experiences and Diverse Linguistic Perspectives
- Language and culture: Multilingualism in literature, music, and film
- Practical ideas: cultural and social initiatives related to multilingualism
You’ll participate in lectures and interactive seminars and engage in conversation with students and faculty from the EUTOPIA network. During a Field Day, Brussels itself becomes a space for learning and discovery.
