Gamification connects: Erasmus+ job shadowing at ZiLL
On 10.11.2025, the ZiLL welcomed three French teachers to the TUD as part of an Erasmus+ job shadowing program. The visit focused on gamification, ludification and game-based learning as pioneering approaches for schools and universities.
The day began with a warm welcome and a short game to get to know each other, which immediately created space for exchange and joint learning - in German, English and French. Madlen Mollinger(diggiclub) then took the participants into her Minetest world and vividly demonstrated how digital play spaces can support collaborative learning processes and promote motivation. A "moving break", led by a French trainer, provided new energy in between.
In the afternoon, the focus was on digital game-based learning: in the Digital Escape Room - Room of Horrors, the guests experienced an impressive example of motivating, playful teaching-learning scenarios. With the serious game Gami|cation, we then deliberately returned to the analog space. The participants got to know 46 game elements and six user types and discussed how these can be used in a targeted manner in different educational contexts.
The program was supplemented by insights into the Erasmus+-funded Game4Change project, including the associated certificate course for teachers on the topic of gamification, as well as the European educational offerings of EUTOPIA. A joint campus tour of TU Dresden provided a relaxed conclusion to the day.
The conclusion: gamification is most effective when digital and analog formats are combined in a meaningful way. The visit impressively demonstrated how learning can be designed in a European, interdisciplinary and practical way - close to schools, universities and, above all, together.
A big thank you goes to our interpreters Kerstin and Martin for the smooth exchange, Madlen Mollinger for the insights into the diggiclub offers and Sabrina Hänsel for the exciting escape room contribution.
Merci pour cet échange inspirant - we look forward to the next European learning encounters!
