Lunch Lecture for professors and university leadership: Generative AI in higher education teaching – strengthening competencies, rethinking the university
Generative AI is transforming teaching and learning in higher education while also raising questions related to institutional and organizational development. In this lunch lecture, Prof. Dr. Benjamin Paaßen, Junior Professor for Knowledge Representation and Machine Learning at Bielefeld University, will focus on the questions of which AI competencies universities should foster in their students and how instructors can meaningfully integrate generative AI into teaching and learning processes. In addition, the lecture will explore the strategic and organizational development tasks that arise for higher education institutions in this context.
The event is primarily aimed at the group of university professors (professors, junior professors, and adjunct professors) as well as university leadership.
Participation in the “AKTive Lehre” program can be credited with 1 AE (exchange).
Learning objectives
After the event, participants will be able to:
- classify key impacts of generative AI on teaching and learning in higher education
- describe which AI competencies students need for a reflective and responsible use of generative AI
- identify ways to meaningfully integrate generative AI into teaching and learning processes
- identify strategic and organizational development tasks for universities in the context of generative AI
