Becoming a Legal Adviser in the Field of Asylum and Residence Law
The training program of the Refugee Law Clinic Dresden comprises two semesters:
During the first semester, participants attend a lecture on asylum and residence law. In combination with a tutorial on refugee law and asylum procedures, the participants acquire basic knowledge for future legal counseling. The knowledge gained from the lecture and tutorial is examined in a written exam.
In order to be able to apply the theoretical knowledge from the exam, the participants complete a four-week internship at a court, a law firm or another institution of legal counseling during the lecture-free period.
Subsequently, the acquired knowledge is deepened in the summer semester of the training program. For this purpose, students attend various workshops and a coloquium. Specific topics such as trauma psychology or concrete country of origin reports will also be covered. At the end, the students take an oral exam. After successful completion, the students may then directly begin their voluntary work as legal advisors in our different locations in Dresden.
The course is open to students of all disciplines.
