Internships and semesters abroad
Internships
Students and graduates complete internships to gain practical professional experience. In addition to acquiring expertise, this offers the opportunity to gain an insight into future professional fields and at the same time to make contacts that can make it easier to start a career later on.
- Institutions where students and graduates of International Relations have completed internships to date can be found here
- Here you can download the internship guidelines for the BA and MA degree programs "International Relations" at TU Dresden.
- Information sheet for the internship as part of the Master's degree program "International Relations"
- For internships abroad, the LEONARDO-OFFICE SAXONY supports you with application workshops, intercultural preparation courses, internship placement and support, and even scholarships.
Semester abroad
An optional component of the Master's degree program in International Relations is a one to two-semester stay at a foreign university.
This takes place at an institution of your choice. The Center for International Studies offers exclusive places for IB students within its own cooperations. Here you can find a list of the approximately 30 university partners of the CIS in Europe and beyond.
You can also apply for other programs, such as TUD Worldwide. Please note the different application deadlines!
At the beginning of each winter semester, there is an information event for students on the organization of the 3rd semester. We will organize this for Master's students on 22 October 2024. More information, as well as the guidelines for your digital application in the Mobility Online portal, can be found linked below.

The Center for International Studies (ZIS) maintains cooperation partnerships with a large number of Institutes. Here you can find a list of the university partners of the CIS in Europe and beyond.
3. application via the Mobility Online portal
Guidelines for the organization and preparation of the semester abroad on Mobility Online:
- Part 1: Application
- Part 2: Accepting an exchange place
- Part 3: Preparation of the Learning Agreement
The binding acceptance of a study place at our partner university is made by signing the declaration of acceptance for a ZIS exchange place, which is added to your application in the Mobility Online portal.
The next step is to create your Digital Learning Agreement (DLA). Please make sure that the "Automatic recognition" field is not ticked. You can use the following wording: "I waive my right for advanced recognition. But I will still have the right for recognition after my mobility according to the internal rules of the TU Dresden." Your academic achievements will be recognized in accordance with the study regulations.

There are also programmes and funding opportunities that can be used university-wide and are organized centrally by TU Dresden.
6. regional ambassadors
- Regional ambassadors: More than 460 regional ambassadors offer local support worldwide during a stay abroad. As contact persons in their home countries, these TUD alumni make it easier to get started locally.
After successfully completing their studies, graduates of the International Relations degree program have a wide range of opportunities for further academic and professional qualification.
