50 teachers and school administrators at the training day on AI in the classroom
Artificial intelligence has become an important and challenging topic at both universities and schools. TU Dresden would like to support school administrators and teachers in this and organized a tandem event on Tuesday, 04.03.2025 entitled "AI in the classroom and best practices in exchange".
With a focus on "AI in the classroom", 50 participants attended the series of six specialist presentations in the morning. They were able to explore the use of AI in the classroom from various specialist perspectives:
- Analysis of world knowledge in GPT (Prof. Dr. Simon Razniewski)
- College:in AI? Ethical-pedagogical reflections on new tandems in the classroom (Prof. Dr. Birte Platow)
- From excellence research to the classroom. Discovering AI applications for yourself (Marcus Kotte)
- Personalized learning experience using GenAI (Dr. Claudia Loitsch)
- Google vS ChatGPT? Targeted research with AI models (Markus Sprenger)
- Of fairy tales and machines: language models as digital storytellers in the narrative teaching-learning context (Ariane Schneider)
In the afternoon, scientists from TU Dresden presented concrete projects that make artificial intelligence and science tangible for students. Participants were able to exchange ideas at themed tables and work on ideas for joint (further) concrete projects.
Thanks to the high level of participation, teachers were given a scientific overview of AI and its application in university teaching. In addition, scientists from the didactics of religious education, STEM subjects, linguistics and geography opened up a variety of perspectives on the use of AI in the classroom.
The afternoon initiated an in-depth exchange on the use of AI in everyday school life through the presentation of projects by TU Dresden and its cooperation schools. The day provided a valuable opportunity for networking between teachers, school administrators and lecturers at TU Dresden and contributed to the development of new ideas.
