The institute of Didactics of Vocational Subject Areas is with regards to content and organisation the sponsor of the course of study teaching degree for vocational schools. Vocational subject areas are geared to occupational areas, of which there are currently 16. A great share of these vocational areas is represented by the present vocational subject areas.
With the examination regulation I for the teaching degree (LAPO I), the vocational subject areas are differentiated into majors of the first group (first subjects) and the second group (second subjects), which characterise the IBF profile.

Main Research: 

• Development of vocational didactics (education and didactics of vocational subject areas) of the vocational subjects combined in the institute,
• Interdisciplinary research in vocational education in the context of service, technics, development of technics, professional work and work organization,
• Research in vocational educational theory and practice.
