[MA] Coupling Feature Models with Variable Structure Simulation Models
Nowadays, contexts in software development are a significant trend that allows the creation of flexible and efficient products. Software product lines with integrated context models can configure software products regarding the context specified by the selection/deselection of software modules and their parameter configuration. Modelica’s variable structure system in simulation modeling is the concept most similar to software product lines. One recent research in this area concerns the OM.jl compiler for the Modelica standard implemented in the Julia language. OM.jl allows a runtime recompilation of the model’s parameters or even changes the model itself. However, OM.jl is still under active development. Variability management can only be implemented as recompilation instruction inside the model. Conditional code snippets are the only way to add logic to variability management. This work should investigate and identify the feasibility of coupling feature models with variable structure systems in the OM.jl compiler.
