[MA] Towards Sensor-based Assembly of Modular Components in Robotic Construction
Robotic construction utilizes robotic systems for tasks ranging from excavation to finishing, offering enhanced efficiency and safety compared to manual methods. However, assembly presents challenges, particularly in precise component placement and connection. Different connectors add complexity, potentially causing grasp position biases and difficulty in confir- ming connections. Traditional sensors like cameras struggle to detect connection moments accurately, prompting exploration of alternative technologies. The DIGIT1 offers a cost-effective solution by detecting biases during connection. This thesis also conducts a literature review on automated assembly technologies, focusing on Lego-like brick systems, to contextualize the investigation into sensor-based assembly in robotic construction.
