Award of the Boysen Prize at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Day 2022
On October 15th, 2022, almost 400 guests celebrated the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering Day at the International Congress Center Dresden. Almost 120 graduates of the Mechanical Science and Engineering, Process Engineering and Natural Materials Engineering and Materials Science degree programmes were ceremoniously sent off into professional life, 20 doctoral students were congratulated on the successful completion of their dissertations and prizes worth a total of almost 15,000 euros were awarded.
Prof. Michael Beckmann, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering and supervising professor for projects of the 3rd and future 4th Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group, welcomed and congratulated all participants and guests and motivated them to be proud of what they had achieved. With the quotation of the Roman philosopher Seneca "It is not because it is difficult that we do not dare, but because we do not dare, that it is difficult", the Dean addressed challenges that want to be solved, where everyone can make a contribution today and in the future.
After honouring graduates and doctoral candidates, five prizes were awarded - including the Boysen Prize worth 5,000 euros. The award is offered by the non-profit Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation and is given for outstanding doctoral theses in the field of environmental technology and environmental protection. This year the prize went to Dr.-Ing. Nadja Steinke and Dr.-Ing. David Becker-Koch. Prof. Lutz Hagen, co-spokesperson of the Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group, gave the laudatory speech for the award winner and also mentioned our Research Training Group.
