Studies at the Institute for Building Climatology
Planning and building is an interdisciplinary process in which many different disciplines are involved. The knowledge required for the construction process, which the future planner must bring with him, should therefore be fundamentally interdisciplinary in nature, so that communication across disciplinary boundaries becomes possible.
The staff members at the Institute of Building Climatology who are in charge of teaching therefore pursue the goal of not only imparting knowledge in a selected subject area, but also of making a contribution so that communication in the building industry becomes possible. We therefore see ourselves committed to the motto of our university, which states: "Knowledge creates bridges - education connects people".
Teaching at the Institute for Building Climatology
The aim of teaching at the Institute of Building Climatology is to provide prospective architects and engineers with the knowledge and skills needed to solve current and future building tasks. In this endeavor, we are committed to current guidelines, namely the European Charter for Solar Energy in Architecture and Urban Planning and the Climate Manifesto of Architects, Engineers and Urban Planners for Sustainable Architecture and Engineering.
As part of the Faculty of Architecture, the focus is on the education of students enrolled in this discipline. Information on teaching for architects can be found here.
For the faculty of civil engineering, but also for professional educators and economists, external teaching is offered in the department of building physics. Information on teaching for civil engineers, vocational educators and economists can be found here.
In addition to the training of academics in the above-mentioned undergraduate diploma programs, the Institute of Building Climatology is also involved in the teaching of the Building Energy Management (GEM) specialization offered in the Civil Engineering major, as well as in the ACCESS (Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies) master's program taught in English.
University education is based on the principle of unity of research and teaching. With the aim of supporting the next generation of scientists in the field of building climatology, we offer interested persons from all disciplines the opportunity to work in the field of building climatology. Within the scope of scientific work in the form of student research projects, bachelor, master, diploma theses or dissertations, you will take on research tasks of our institute and will be supervised by us. We welcome your inquiries about our current research topics or if you would like to contribute your own research ideas. Please contact us!
