Summer semester 2024
Silver cutlery by Henry van den Velde, the Savoy vase by Alvar Aalto, the Zephyr sofa combination by Zaha Hadid - various architects have shown that architecture does not have to be limited to pure building design.
You will design an object of your own choice for a possible interior design, which should be in harmony with your building design in the main module and developed analogue to it. This can be a piece of furniture, a furniture fragment, a luminaire or a product such as a vase.
It is important to work on the model on a 1:1 scale. A prototype should be built as the final project. This does not have to be suitable for the material, but must be presentable. The object should have a well-founded connection to the building design and, as a further achievement, should be visualised in concrete terms and presented in interaction with the surrounding architecture.
The course aims to combine design and craftsmanship and is therefore to be understood as a practical excursion into product design.
