Student Research at the Chair of Social and Health Care Buildings and Design
In the ARCH4HEALTH Student Research Lab, students explore diverse questions related to healthcare architecture.

Many research findings confirm the impact of the built environment on human behavior and well-being. Such insights are particularly crucial in healthcare, such as in the construction of hospitals and care facilities, to design user-centered and sustainable buildings. Healthcare construction is a highly dynamic field that must constantly adapt to changing conditions due to medical and technological advancements, societal changes, or currently, the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the Chair of Social and Healthcare Buildings, we have been engaged in research and teaching on the influence of architecture on building users for many years. In our ARCH4HEALTH Student Research Lab, we follow the approach of inquiry-based learning. Students independently conduct research projects on self-selected questions in the field of healthcare design. This familiarizes them with scientific methodologies and generates new knowledge that can inspire practical applications and foster innovations.
