Dr. Silvia Benedito has taught in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design for almost 15-yrs. Here, she has led research seminars and design studios centered on climate-oriented design strategies in ameliorating thermal loads on urban and rural environments. Benedito is a registered urban designer, architect,
and landscape architect in Germany, USA and Portugal. Benedito was a guest Professor at the Technische Universität München, at the Technische Universität Graz, and, more recently, a guest professor on the inaugural post-professional degree in Urbanism and Ecology at the University of Algarve, Portugal. She was the co-founder of OFICINAA, recognized in various international competitions. Currently she is the head of the Climate and Biodiversity design group at UNIOLA GmbH Munich. Benedito is the co-editor of several awarded books. Her last book Atmosphere Anatomies: On Design, Weather, and Sensation with photographs by Iwan Baan, has received the inaugural Book Prize for Architectural innovation and Sustainability by the Portuguese League of Architects and the Minister for the Environment and Climate Action (MAAC).
