„Politik und Gärten. Gärten im Spannungsfeld von politischer Inanspruchnahme und gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen“
Die Gartenkunst Frankreichs und Deutschlands blickt auf eine lange Geschichte zurück, die durch vielfältige Beziehungen wechselseitig beeinflusst wurde. Auch dynastische Verbindungen, kriegerische Konflikte oder Repräsentationsstreben der Machthaber wirkten sich auf die Rolle von Garten- und Parkanlagen aus, die entsprechend inszeniert oder vereinnahmt wurden. Die Tagung widmet sich dem Thema „Gärten und Politik“ aus einer spezifisch deutsch-französischen Perspektive.
Sie thematisiert die Rolle von Gartenanlagen als machtpolitische Symbole im Sinne ihrer Schöpfer ebenso wie die nachträgliche Inanspruchnahme historischer Gärten für politische Zwecke. Zur Sprache kommen auch Auswirkungen politischer Grenzziehungen auf historische Parkanlagen - von der Zerstörung über die Wiederherstellung bis hin zu
Chancen grenzübergreifender Parks als “kulturelle Brücken”.
Bis in die Gegenwart führt die Betrachtung der Bedeutung von Gärten für Erziehung und Bildung. Ein Ausblick zum gesellschaftlichen Potenzial des Gartens als Ort der Integration und des bürgerschaftlichen Engagements ergänzt die Tagung.
