Objectives and work programme
In this collaborative R&D project, the company hema electronic and the TU Dresden intend to develop coordinated LED technology for use as a flood lamp where both the intensity and the output spectrum can be flexibly controlled and programmed. This new type of flood light is to be used with UV-curing and light-curing adhesives. Curing programmes are to be developed with consideration to the absorption ranges of the adhesives, as well as the geometry of the bonded joints, which can be used to influence the achievable strength of the adhesive by controlling the LED lamp.
Upstream glass products with different thicknesses and structures (e.g. coatings) can also be considered when selecting the appropriate wavelength and intensity. To this end, the use and applications of LEDs with different wavelengths is to be investigated, either in a pure or mixed assembly. The combination and individual activation of various spectra and intensities during the course of LED curing can have a positive effect on the strength of the bonded joint. This is of huge importance, particularly for thicker adhesive bonds and their durability when used in load-bearing elements.
