TurtleBot3 new at the institute
Since last week the mobile Turtlebot3-pltform is the second available experimental robotic platform at our institute. It complements our already available KUKA-Robot-Cell.
TurtleBot3 is a small, programmable, low-cost ROS-based mobile robot that can be used for education, research and product prototyping. It is powered by a Dynamixel servo motor.
TurtleBot3 can be customized to meet user requirements, including reconfiguration of mechanical components, optional embedded computers and sensors. In addition, TurtleBot3 can be coupled with a low-power, small form factor embedded computer, a 360° rangefinder via LIDAR, and 3D-printed parts.
TurtleBot3 is capable of SLAM-algorithms (Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) to generate maps, plan indoor movement paths, and avoid obstacles. It can also be controlled remotely via a laptop, joystick or Android-based smartphone.
