Cluster of Excellence Initiative CARE

The "Excellence Strategy" of the German Research Foundation (DFG ) aims to sustainably strengthen Germany as a science location and further improve its international competitiveness. TU Dresden is submitting a full proposal for a total of three Excellence Cluster initiatives for the 2026 to 2032 funding phase by August 22, 2024.

Brief description
Prof Viktor Mechtcherine is Director of the Institute for Building Materials at TU Dresden and spokesperson for the Cluster of Excellence initiative "CARE - Climate-Neutral and Resource-Efficient Construction" © TU Dresden
Conventional concrete and cement make up 80% of the materials used in construction and are responsible for more than 8% of global CO2 emissions during production. The Cluster of Excellence CARE of TU Dresden and RWTH Aachen University aims to use climate-friendly building materials, construction principles and production technologies to show ways towards sustainable construction in every respect.
