Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Jens Otto took over the chair of construction management at the faculty of civil engineering as well as the directorship of the institute of construction management in 2017.
He studied civil engineering at the TU Dresden and the City University London and industrial engineering at the Fernuniversität Hagen (distance learning university). After his studies Prof. Otto was employed at an international operating engineering office. Thereafter he did his doctorate at the institute of construction management at the TU Dresden. Before returning to the university he was working in leading positions, technical as well as commercial, in large construction companies. Due to his experience in construction operations, Prof. Otto has an extensive expertise in the fields of construction engineering, construction project management and corporate management. Besides many publications in periodicals, Prof Otto is co-author of the books “Baustelleneinrichtung” (construction site facilities), “Baubetrieb Praxis kompakt” (construction management practice compact) and the “Leitfaden Instandhaltung 2011/2013” (guideline maintenance).

Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Katharina Kleinschrot took over the professorship for Construction Technology and Circular Value Creation at the Faculty of Civil Engineering on 01.04.2023. She studied real estate engineering and real estate economics at the University of Stuttgart. After her studies, Prof. Kleinschrot worked for LBBW Immobilien Development GmbH in the area of foreign project development. She then completed her doctorate at the University of Stuttgart, where her research focused on sustainable construction and construction management. Afterwards, Prof. Kleinschrot worked for five years in the acquisition of construction projects and as deputy branch manager at Zech Hochbau AG (formerly BAM Deutschland AG) in Berlin. Most recently, she built up the sustainability development department at Zech Group SE and is a member of the Zech Group's Sustainability Development Advisory Board. Through her professional experience, Prof. Kleinschrot has extensive expertise in connecting operational construction business and sustainability transformation.

Honorary Professor for Construction and Real Estate Law
Prof. Handschumacher was born in Cologne in 1958 and studied law at the University of Freiburg i. Br. In 1991, Prof. Handschumacher received his doctorate in law from the University of Freiburg i. Br. He has worked as a lawyer in Düsseldorf and Dresden since 1991. He is a specialist lawyer for building and architectural law and a partner in the law firm Handschumacher und Partner with offices in Berlin, Chemnitz, Dresden, Leipzig and Zwickau.
In the summer semester 2011, Prof. Handschumacher took over the lecture "Public Building Law", a compulsory course for all civil engineering students. In the winter semester 2011/2012, Prof. Handschumacher also took over the course "Legal Project Management for Real Estate", a compulsory lecture for students majoring in Construction Management and GEM (Building Energy Management), which is extremely popular.
Prof. Handschumacher has published numerous essays, commentaries, notes and judgement notices. The book "Immobilienrecht praxisnah" was published by Springer Vieweg Verlag at the end of 2014. In this book, Prof. Handschumacher presents the most important terms and contexts of real estate law. Since 2018, Prof. Handschumacher has been the editor of the legal journal "juris-PraxisReport Öffentliches Baurecht".
Honorary Professor for Corporate Management in the Construction Industry
Klaus Raps has been a lecturer in "Strategic Management in the Construction Industry" at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Dresden University of Technology since 2007 and was appointed honorary professor in January 2014.
Klaus Raps was born in Nördlingen on 7 February 1960. He studied civil engineering at the FH Munich from 1979 to 1983 and industrial engineering at the TFH Berlin from 1984 to 1986. In 1986, he joined the then Bilfinger und Berger AG and held various management positions in the Bilfinger Berger Group from 1989 to 2000. From 2000, he was a member of the Executive Board of Bilfinger Berger Hochbau and he was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board in 2004.
From 2007 to 2012, Klaus Raps was a member of the Executive Board of Bilfinger Berger SE, now Bilfinger SE. He was responsible for the Building Construction, Facility Management, Power Service and Corporate Real Estate Management divisions as well as the foreign subsidiaries Abigroup and Baulderstone in Australia, Julius Berger Nigeria and Fru-Con Construction Corp. in the USA.
Klaus Raps was Deputy Chairman of the University Council of the Technical University of Dresden from April 2010 to March 2020.
He is a shareholder of "CARBOCON GMBH Dresden", the leading company for the application of the novel carbon concrete technology, and of "Klaus Raps Beteiligungs GmbH".
Klaus Raps advises companies and investors with a focus on real estate, construction and facility management.
Klaus Raps is married, has two children and lives in Oberursel/Taunus.
Honorary Professor for Private Building Law
Prof. Frank Weber was born in 1970 in Eilenburg/Saxony. After studying sports science at the DHfK, he studied law at the University of Leipzig and the Technical University of Dresden. Afterwards, legal clerkship in Leipzig, Dresden and Cologne.
From 1997 to 2007 lawyer at Jagenburg Sieber Mantscheff (JSM Rechtsanwälte), where he was a partner from 2002 to 2007. 2007 admitted to practice as a specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law. Partner at BÖRGERS Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft mbB from 2008 to 2015 and lecturer for private construction law at the Technical University of Dresden since 2000. Founding partner at HMMW Habich Müller-Magdeburg Weber since 2016. Since 2018 honorary professor for private construction law at the Technical University of Dresden.
Since 01/2007 Consultant for building and architects' law at Kommunales Bildungswerk e.V. Berlin.

Mr. Jan Kortmann studied at the Technical University of Dresden from 2005 to 2010. He finished his studies in September 2010 with the defence of his diploma thesis at the institute of Construction Management. During his studies he worked as a student trainee and after graduation as a planning engineer at Hyder Consulting GmbH Germany (now Arcadis Germany GmbH). His field of activity included the phases 5 to 8 of the HOAI in the business unit of large-scale projects in industrial construction, such as most recently the expansion of the body plant for BMW AG at the location in Leipzig and the new construction of the City Tunnel Leipzig.
Since 2012, Mr. Kortmann has been working as a research associate at the Institute of Construction Management and was responsible for several research projects in the fields of RFID technology, carbon concrete, resource efficiency and health protection, in addition to a variety of teaching duties. During this time, he also completed his doctoral thesis in the field of "procedural investigation on the recyclability of carbon concrete". He was able to successfully defend his doctorate in December 2019 and has since been employed as a senior assistant at the Institute of Construction Management.

Ms Dorn studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Dresden from 2013 to 2018. She completed her studies in November 2018 with the defence of her diploma thesis on the topic of "Utility analysis for the valuation of real estate". During her studies, Ms Dorn was able to gain experience through internships and student trainee positions. Among other things, she took on construction management tasks and was involved in the development of a major project in Hamburg. Since March 2019, Ms Dorn has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Construction Management.

Frau Gildemeister studierte von 2018 bis 2023 Bauingenieurwesen an der Technischen Universität Dresden und hat dabei Baubetriebswesen vertieft. Nach der Verteidigung ihrer Diplomarbeit zum Thema „Auswirkungen der beschlossenen Ersatzbaustoffverordnung auf die Baubranche“ beendete sie ihr Studium im Oktober 2023. Durch ihre Tätigkeit als studentische Hilfskraft am Institut für Baubetriebswesen konnte sie bereits erste Erfahrungen sammeln.
Nach ihrem Studium erfolgte nahtlos eine Anstellung am Institut für Baubetriebswesen als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin.

Frau Gruner studierte von 2017 bis 2022 Bauingenieurwesen an der Technischen Universität Dresden mit der Vertiefung Gebäude-Energie-Management. Mit der Verteidigung ihrer Diplomarbeit zum Thema „Thermische Gebäudesimulation von Low Tech Gebäuden“ am Institut für Baubetriebswesen beendete sie ihr Studium im November 2022. Während des Studiums konnte Frau Gruner durch Praktika bereits Erfahrungen in Ingenieurbüros sammeln. Nach ihrem Studium erfolgte eine nahtlose Anstellung in einem Planungsbüro für Energieberatung, wo sie die Aufgabe der Ökobilanzierung übernahm. Seit August 2023 ist Frau Gruner als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Baubetriebswesen tätig.

Herr Härtel studierte von 2018 bis 2023 Bauingenieurwesen an der Technischen Universität Dresden. Mit der Verteidigung seiner Diplomarbeit zum Thema „Zielkonflikte im nachhaltigen und energieeffizienten Bauen“ beendete er sein Studium im September 2023. Durch seine Tätigkeiten während des Studiums konnte Florian Härtel bereits erste Erfahrungen in einem mittelständischen Bauunternehmen sammeln. Seit Oktober 2023 ist Florian Härtel als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Baubetriebswesen tätig.

Ms Herdan studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Dresden from 2018 to 2024, specialising in building energy management. She completed her studies in October 2024 with the defence of her diploma thesis on ‘Investigation of the effect of the addition of steel fibres on the rheological behaviour of cement-based materials for 3D printing’ at the Institute of Building Materials.
Through her part-time jobs at the Institute of Construction Management and in a medium-sized construction company, Ms Herdan was able to gain experience in the field of project organisation and building physics. Since October 2024, Annika Herdan has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Construction Management in the field of green facades.

Herr Jahn studierte von 2005 bis 2008 Holztechnik mit der Vertiefung Möbel- und Innenausbau an der Berufsakademie in Dresden. Anschließend war Herr Jahn bis Ende 2017 bei der Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH im Bereich der Komponentenfertigung tätig. Parallel nahm Herr Jahn das Fernstudium Architektur und Umwelt an der Hochschule Wismar auf, welches er im Jahr 2019 abschloss. Von 2019 bis 2022 war Herr Jahn bei der Möbelwerk Heidenau GmbH & Co. KG im Bereich Arbeitsvorbereitung beschäftigt.
Seit April 2022 ist Herr Jahn wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Baubetriebswesen.

After completing his studies and working for several years as a project manager in interior construction, Mr Klopfer studied civil engineering with a specialisation in construction management at the Technical University of Dresden from 2014 to 2016. He completed his postgraduate studies in December 2016 with the defence of his diploma thesis on "Fire protection in planning, construction and operation of retail properties" at the Institute for Construction Management.
As part of his postgraduate studies, Mr Klopfer worked as a student trainee and diploma student at Lidl Vertriebs-GmbH & Co. KG in Lampertswalde. From 2017 to 2021, he worked for G.N.b.h. Architekten in Dresden, focusing on work phases 6 to 9.
Since January 2022, Mr Klopfer has been working as a research assistant at the Institute for Construction Management.

Mr. Mischke studied civil engineering with a specialization in construction management at the Technical University of Dresden from 2014 to 2020. With the defense of his diploma thesis with the topic "Structural and organizational measures of work preparation in a medium-sized construction company" at the Institute of Construction Management he finished his studies in October 2020. During his studies Mr. Mischke was able to gain experience in construction companies and planning offices through internships. After graduation, he was seamlessly employed by Iproplan Planungsgesellschaft mbH, where he gained experience as a project engineer in the service phases 5 to 8.
Since March 2022, Mr. Mischke has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Construction Management.

Ms Schlund studied civil engineering at the HTWK in Leipzig from 2018 to 2024 and obtained both a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Science degree. She completed her studies with the defence of her master's thesis "The contract design potential of BIM and lean management contracts and development approaches for possible service profiles". During her studies, Ms Schlund initially worked as a research assistant at the HTWK's Geotechnics G² department, where she gained her first insights into scientific working methods. She then worked for a year and a half at the planning office Sahlmann und Partner, where she gained experience in the areas of building planning using the BIM method and project supervision. She then worked for a year at Drees & Sommer in the field of BIM management and BIM coordination, where she also gained knowledge in the field of lean management.
Since April 2024, Ms Schlund has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Construction Management and in the Construction Future LAB.

Ms Senkel studied civil engineering with a specialisation in building energy management at the Technical University of Dresden from 2011 to 2016. She completed her studies in September 2016 with the defence of her diploma thesis on "Quality assurance in the planning, construction and operation of energy-efficient non-residential buildings" at the Institute of Building Management. Ms Senkel completed her project and diploma thesis at the Saxon Energy Agency. After her studies, she was seamlessly employed by the engineering firm Dr. Scheffler & Partner GmbH, where she gained experience as a project engineer for building physics and energy balancing. Since August 2017, Ms Senkel has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Construction Management.

Mrs Wiel studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Dresden from 2008 to 2013, specialising in building energy management. From 1984, Mr. Vollmer studied information technology at the TU Dresden. In 1989 he graduated in automation technology.
This was followed by work at Union-Bau AG, Dresden, including in the field preparation of hardware and software. In 1991 he became head of the information technology department at Dyckerhoff & Widmann AG (DYWIDAG) Direktion Ost.
After the insolvency of Walter-Bau AG united with DYWIDAG he changed in 2006 to the TU Dresden, Institute for Construction Management. His responsibilities include the support of hardware and software as well as teaching in the field of construction management software.

Mr Deckarm studied civil engineering from 2001 to 2006, specialising in construction management. He finished his studies with the defence of his diploma thesis with the topic: "Use of RFID technology in concrete construction" in October 2006. His diploma thesis was awarded the prize of the Saxon construction industry 2007 in the category civil engineering.
After graduating, he started working for Bilfinger Berger Nigeria GmbH in the estimation department. The support of the users of the estimation system (Arriba®, followed by iTWO®) as well as the further development of the programme within the company were his main fields of activity in Wiesbaden. This was followed by an assignment in technical controlling in Nigeria, where Mr Deckarm looked after the calculation and controlling users nationwide. In addition, he built up a training system and conducted beginner, advanced and special training courses. Subsequently, he took over the position as Head of Technical Office Area East in the south of Nigeria. The tasks here included the supervision of the project internal services, the operation of the quarry, precast plant, concrete plant, iron bending workshop and asphalt mixing plant. Mr. Deckarm was responsible for the complete reporting of the area.
After the office work, he changed to project management. For this purpose, he took over the project management for various structural and civil engineering works in Wiesbaden as well as in Nigeria. The project management was taken over for both tender and execution projects. Since February 2020, Mr Deckarm has been a doctoral student at the Institute of Construction Management.

Parallel to his Abitur, which Mr. Flemming passed in 1987, he completed an apprenticeship as a skilled construction worker. After completing his military service, he studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Dresden from 1989. In 1994, Mr. Flemming graduated from the Institute for Construction Management at the TU Dresden. He then worked in a trainee program at Heilit + Woener Bau AG in the areas of work preparation, costing and construction management before returning to the Institute as a research assistant in 1996. In 2001, he took over the position of managing senior assistant at the institute. In teaching, Mr. Flemming covers the subject areas of Earthworks as well as Facility Management.
In the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and in the Senate of the TU Dresden, Mr. Flemming represented the interests of the academic staff for more than two decades.
In September 2019, Ingo Flemming was elected as a member of the state parliament of the Free State of Saxony. He has taken leave of absence from the TU Dresden for this position starting in the summer semester of 2020. He continues his lectures as an honorary lecturer.
Other activities:
Mr. Flemming is active in various honorary capacities, for example as a city councilor of the state capital Dresden, as treasurer of the institute's alumni association, as chairman of the Dresdner Verein der Bauingenieure e.V. or in the Lions Club Dresden.
