TU Dresden launches Building Research Centre
On 27 March 2023 Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU) handed over a funding decision to Professor Jürgen Weber and his team from TU Dresden. The Construction Future Lab (CFLab) will be built in Klingewalde with the money from the structural pot.
As part of a spin-off from the TU Dresden, the CFLab is an independent research and development facility in the fields of construction management, construction machinery and drive technology. The main goal is to research and further develop new digitalisation, machine and process technologies for construction-specific applications, especially supported by networked and automated construction machines on a 1:1 scale. To this end, an interdisciplinary and cross-domain application, development and testing environment for construction and construction machinery technologies is being realised (office, equipment hall, indoor test area). Construction site situations can be mapped, modelled and examined in detail on a real scale on the approx. 9.0 ha test area and another "test building".
The CFLab was formally founded in summer 2022 as a gGmbh by the three managing directors Prof. Jürgen Weber from the TUD Institute for Mechatronic Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Frank Will from the Chair of Construction Machinery and Prof. Jens Otto from the TUD Institute for Construction Management. The shareholder of the non-profit Träger-GmbH is the TU Dresden.
