Abstract:
The conversion of existing buildings that are no longer marketable has been discussed and implemented for many years as an alternative way of creating living space. This work deals with the analysis of office space in Berlin that is suitable for conversion. The aim is to quantify the potential stock by surveying office space offers that are active on the market and to qualify this stock using an individual catalogue of criteria. Building on this, an in-depth primary data survey will further narrow down this qualified stock and include owner-related information and requirements. Among other things, building-specific basic parameters, legal and economic aspects will be included and evaluated in the analysis. As an extended consideration, the possible opportunities and obstacles to conversion will also be examined and supported by the results of the primary data survey.
