Research honored with the Techtextil Award 2024
The ITM and the IMB were honored with the Techtextil Award 2024 for their joint research in the project Netzgitterträger on 23.04.2024 in Frankfurt/Main. Congratulations to Harald Michler, Nazaib Ur Rehman, Marina Stümpel, Birgit Beckmann, Steffen Marx and Manfred Curbach! A wonderful example of how interdisciplinary collaboration with textile technology colleagues can lead to outstanding results. Many thanks to everyone involved! Special thanks go to Harald Michler, who gave the team the initial idea of alternating carbon rovings.
In the project, the concept of alternating carbon rovings, which form partly strong reinforcement bundles and partly fanned-out mesh structures, is being implemented in reality. This allows different load transfer situations to be realized in the component. The alternately arranged reinforcement paths implicitly guarantee the anchoring of the rovings at the same time. In the project, both the textile structure and a prefabricated hollow concrete element based on it were developed. The Techtextil jury honored the project because the mesh lattice girder can be used to produce precast hollow-core concrete slabs that can save up to 28% concrete compared to solid concrete slabs.
