Lecture Content:
Masonry construction presents the essential principles of this type of construction. This includes building materials, dimensions and bracing, stress possibilities of masonry, spatial bracing, slender columns, openings, vaults, and design and verification methods. Reinforced concrete design theory will build on the fundamentals of reinforced and prestressed concrete to teach the application of basic methods to reinforced concrete members such as slabs, plates, flat slabs, bracing systems in terms of load bearing capacity and serviceability.

Reinforced concrete construction design theory

Exercise
Masonry construction:
Minor computational examples are integrated into the lecture material.
Reinforced concrete design:
Exercises are done with selected problems from the course content.
Assignment
For the examination in the subject area of reinforced concrete design, an assignment of 60 hours is required for admission.
Examination
The knowledge of the subject areas masonry construction and reinforced concrete design is tested in a written examination of 180 min. In addition, the module includes a written examination of 90 min on the mechanics of materials in solid construction.
