Welcome to our Chair
The staff at the Chair of Hydraulic Engineering is engaged in teaching and research. Our topics range from flood protection and near-natural watercourse development to the construction of barrages and hydroelectric power plants.
Opportunities for research in hydraulic engineering
The Hubert Engels Laboratory, which was founded as early as 1898 as the world's first permanent river engineering laboratory, offers the possibility of carrying out hydraulic model tests for a wide range of tasks in the field of hydraulic engineering. These include pressure, velocity, turbulence and flow measurements as well as tests on special structures of hydraulic engineering, maritime and port construction, and water treatment, or on industrial plants where liquids pass through.
