Chair holder

Since 2008, the Chair of Hydraulic Engineering has been headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Stamm, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Speaker of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Studies

The Chair offers students from 6 faculties a wide range of courses on hydraulic engineering topics: From hydrology and the design of waterway structures to numerical and laboratory flow modelling.

Staff

The staff of the Chair of Hydraulic Engineering comprises the Chair's secretary and the Research Associates, who cover teaching tasks and conduct research in various fields. Furthermore, the Hubert Engels Laboratory has technical personnel for the set-up of model tests.

Opportunities for research in hydraulic engineering

The Hubert Engels Laboratory, which was founded as early as 1898 as the world's first permanent river engineering laboratory, offers the possibility of carrying out hydraulic model tests for a wide range of tasks in the field of hydraulic engineering. These include pressure, velocity, turbulence and flow measurements as well as tests on special structures of hydraulic engineering, maritime and port construction, and water treatment, or on industrial plants where liquids pass through.
