December 12, 2025 Publication of the conference program
January 4, 2026 End of early bird registration
Program
Today more than ever, hydraulic engineering is caught between technical requirements, ecological goals, and social expectations: climate change and extreme weather events demand resilient infrastructure, while at the same time there is a greater focus on integrating ecosystem services into hydraulic engineering measures.
Society and politics are looking for solutions that equally guarantee protection, security of supply, and sustainability — seeing technology and nature not as opposites, but as complementary partners. Innovations in the digital realm are also opening up new possibilities: AI-supported modeling, digital twins, and modern sensor technology are creating the basis for predictive planning, operation, and monitoring processes.
Topics such as changing sediment dynamics, renaturation of water bodies, design of post-mining landscapes, hydraulic engineering in multifunctional landscapes, competing urban, agricultural, and forestry land uses, and the connection between hydraulic engineering and the energy industry are also becoming increasingly important.
With this background, we would like to invite you to submit conference contributions on the following topics, among others, for the 49th Dresden Hydraulic Engineering Colloquium entitled "Hydraulic engineering between technology and nature:
Multifunctional solutions for the future":
- Nature-based solutions for multifunctional (cultural) landscapes (“nature-based solutions,” ecosystem integration)
- Resilient and sustainable infrastructures for a changing water world (security of supply, sponge cities, climate-adapted structures, NW management)
- From AI-supported modeling to smart rivers (models, technologies, digital twins, remote sensing, sensor technology)
- Renaturation, sediment management, biodiversity
- Post-mining landscapes (water – energy – landscape)
- Competing water and land uses
The accompanying trade exhibition provides information about products, processes, and services from manufacturers, engineering firms, teaching and research institutions, and associations. It forms the interface between science and practice and serves as a central platform for exchange and networking for all participants of the 49th Dresden Hydraulic Engineering Colloquium.
