TEILPROJEKT 1 - Multi-physical and multi-scale theoretical-numerical modelling of the tire-pavement-interaction
Technical University of Dresden - Institute for Structural Analysis
director: Prof. Michael Kaliske
researcher: Ronny Behnke
support: Ines Wollny, Felix Hartung
Research Area
Goal of this subproject 1 is a numerically efficient continuum mechanical macroscopic and thermo-mechanical finite element (FE) formulation of the coupled tire-pavement interaction model based on a stationary Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation. The consistently coupled interaction model consists of an inelastic thermo-mechanical ALE FE tire model and an inelastic thermo-mechanical pavement model and considers the deformations of the tire and the pavement at rolling contact. The thermo-mechanical contact formulation is numerically calculated based on a multi-scale analysis and homogenized as general macroscopic friction law which bases on neuronal networks and considers the frictional effects of hysteresis and adhesion. The coupling to the vehicle simulation, which is conducted in subproject 5, is carried out indirectly by the exchange of the relevant quantities e.g. tire loads, tire characteris-tics and load transmission characteristics in the tire footprint.
For the numerically efficient treatment of the long-term processes that influence the durability of the pavement constructions, a temporal multi-scale formulation of the tire-pavement inter-action is intended, which considers beside the multiple repeated mechanical short-time impacts on the pavement also the climatic effects in terms of time dependent varying temperature fields due to day-night alternation as well as the seasons during one year.
Goals
- development of a general understanding of the complex interactions of coupled vehicle-tire-pavement system
- efficient and reliable structural analysis and prediction of the thermo-mechanical behaviour of the tire-pavement-system to obtain deeper knowledge on the short term dynamical processes inside the pavement at single overruns by steady state rolling
- obtaining deeper knowledge on the short term dynamical processes inside the pavement at single overruns by steady state rolling as well as on the thermo-mechanical and inelastic structural bahavior of tires at varying loads, velocities and driving manoevres
- deduction of parameters for an improved durability and less susceptibility to damage of pavement structures
- improved understanding of processes inside the pavement structure in consequence of multiple overruns under consideration of varying pavement temperature due to climatic impact
