FUN* the women environmental network
Since 2017, FUN* has been supporting students in overcoming challenges in their everyday university life, whether personal or professional in nature. FUN* was founded to promote equal opportunities in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and has since continued to grow steadily in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. As a result, our offerings at TUD are becoming increasingly diverse. The overarching goal is, in particular, to help women and gender-diverse individuals in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering develop a confident and self-assured presence in the university environment, thereby contributing in the long term to balancing the gender ratio in the Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering at TUD. We are currently expanding our target audience to include international students as well.
We offer various networking and professional development events each year and are present at various TUD events, where we raise awareness about diversity, equality, and sustainability at TUD. Our networking events provide you with a safe space to discuss personal difficulties and challenges. Together, we then work to identify solutions that will help you take action.
Our workshops offer a variety of opportunities to identify your individual strengths, discover your “why,” and, under professional guidance, expand your skill sets—enabling you to stand out and succeed in a career in academia or the business world. To achieve this, we don’t constantly reinvent the wheel; instead, we draw on the expertise and resources of our internal TUD partnerships as well as professional external coaches. In doing so, we also help ensure that a strong career network can be built and utilized as early as possible, thereby enabling equal career opportunities for everyone in the future.
FUN*’s commitment supports the exchange of knowledge among students, doctoral candidates, faculty, and staff at TUD. We also collaborate with the various Departments within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and with the structural and organizational units across TUD’s broader community of stakeholders.
