FUN* the women environmental network
Since 2017, the FrauenUmweltNetzwerk* (in English: Women in Environmental Sciences Network, or FUN* for short) has been supporting students in overcoming the challenges of everyday university life, both personal and professional. Since our establishment, the FrauenUmweltNetzwerk* of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences has continued to grow, as has the range of services we offer at TUD. Our main goal is to help women at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences develop confidence and assert themselves in a university environment. In so doing, we aim to contribute to gender equality in Environmental Science at TUD in the long term. We are currently expanding our target group to include international students more.
We offer a range of networking and educational events each year and participate in various TUD events, raising awareness of diversity, gender equality and sustainability at TUD. Our networking events provide a safe environment for discussing any difficulties or challenges you may be facing. Together, we strive to find ways to solve problems and to help you to take effective action.
In our workshops, we help you to identify your own individual strengths, to figure out what motivates you and, with professional guidance, to expand your skill sets so you can stand out and excel in academia or business. We don’t want to reinvent the wheel – we draw on the expertise and resources available at TUD and bring in professional coaches. Along the way, this allows us to build and make use of a valuable career network at the earliest possible stage, so that everyone can enjoy the same career opportunities in the future.
FUN* encourages knowledge transfer between undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students and lecturers. We work with the various departments at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences as well as other organizational units within the rest of TUD.
