Obituary Prof. Henning Löber (10.7.1939 - 31.12.2024)
Henning Löber was one of the first Research Associates at the Institute of Building Climatology to exemplify the connections between building climate laws and building technology requirements - according to the motto "climate-friendly construction, building-friendly air conditioning". This is what we understand by the term building climate control today. As a mechanical engineering graduate from TU Dresden, he joined Prof. Petzold at the Institute and completed his doctorate in 1974 with the topic "On the calculation of solar radiation in rooms". As an assistant, he was involved in the creation of many teaching materials. His fundamental training in building climatology and his great knowledge later earned him a high reputation in practice. His outstanding expertise led to his appointment as Chair of Building Physics and Air Conditioning at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, where he left his mark on science and teaching.
He was active into old age - at scientific events and in solving building physics problems in listed buildings. Even after his well-deserved retirement, he remained personally and professionally connected to us. With his special musical talent and his humorous manner, Prof. Löber enriched many of our celebrations and honors. We are sincerely grateful for his commitment and contribution. We will always remember his work and his friendly nature.
