RiKA - Outlook
Outlook
Forest risk and crisis communication as well as acceptance building with regard to plant protection measures in forests as a prerequisite for sustainable and future-proof forest management is a central component for conveying knowledge, reducing misunderstandings and creating trust between forestry and the public - as a basis for effective forest protection and securing climate-resilient forests.
The results of RiKA clearly show that successful plant protection measures in forests depend not only on their technical quality, but also on open, easy-to-understand communication. In future, the communication strategies developed must be further tested, expanded and permanently anchored in forestry practice.
Important next steps include the expansion of target group-specific information offerings, the early involvement of relevant stakeholders and the consistent use of modern formats - from social media to interactive forest information offerings. Training for forest stakeholders on crisis and dialog management also remains central to sustainably strengthening knowledge and trust.
RiKA has also shown that continuous public relations work prevents misunderstandings and secures the forestry sector's scope for action. In this sense, close cooperation with projects such as ReBek offers the opportunity to accompany scientific innovations in forest protection with appropriate communication and thus promote climate-resilient forests in the long term.
