Greenhouse at VLO Hetzdorf
In the VLO greenhouse, investigations are carried out under controlled conditions with forestry-relevant plants in the form of container trials during the vegetation period.
The influence of a wide range of parameters on the germination, establishment, growth and development of plants can be tested very effectively using a wide variety of test series. An area of approx. 300 m² is available for this purpose, which is divided into three separate test cabins.
Depending on the experimental design, the plants can be watered either automatically via a spraying system or manually via water hoses. Shading systems, fans and ventilation flaps ensure controlled temperature and air exchange. It is possible to vary the lighting intensity (assimilation and photoperiodic lighting).
A climate computer records climate data for each cabin at 12-minute intervals, which can be exported for further analysis.
The greenhouse is available for use by other Institutes or external cooperation partners. Registration for this should be submitted to the staff by the end of January of the respective planning year.
