Lowest drought sensitivity of beech towards the dry distribution margin

European beech seems to be adapted to drought at the dry distribution margin showing high adaptive potential. A Europe-wide gradient study by Muffler et al., which was supervised by Marieke van der Maaten-Theunissen, led to this conclusion. The results of the gradient analysis have now been published in the Journal of Biogeography.
