The Bridge between You and Global Citizenship – TUD Global Citizenship Certificate
The TUD Global Citizenship Certificate (GCC) is the new qualification and award program developed by the International Office of TU Dresden with a focus on Internationalization@Home. It is open to all TU Dresden students (including doctoral and exchange students) and aims to highlight and reward their intercultural, regional, and global knowledge, skills as well as commitment in the form of a significant certificate.
GCC consists of four modules: Knowledge, Mobility, Practice@Home and Civic Engagement. Within the modules, completed or ongoing learning efforts, mobility experiences as well as engagement (e.g. volunteer work) on campus and in the local and regional civil society can be credited. The modules can be completed at your own pace and according to your topic preferences.
GCC is a committed contribution by TU Dresden to implement Sustainable Development Goal 4 "Quality Education" coordinated by UNESCO. Within this framework, Global Citizenship Education (GCED) is a sub-goal to ensure inclusive, high-quality, and equitable education and promote Lifelong learning opportunities for all.
We welcome all students and doctoral candidates enrolled at TU Dresden to join GCC! By attending GCC as a comprehensive educational and experiential qualification program, you can gain valuable interdisciplinary qualifications during your (doctoral) study and enable yourself to embrace and tackle the current local-global challenges with the mind and skill set of a future global citizen.
Why is GCC relevant for your future?
GCC qualifies, empowers, and connects TU Dresden's students and doctoral candidates to a diverse and global-minded scientific and civil community. GCC helps one to grow and develop a sense of belonging to the global community on campus and in the urban society so that one can play an active role in shaping it and contributing to a more peaceful, just, diverse, and sustainable world confidently and reflectively.
With GCC as experience, qualification, and award, the prospective TUD graduates are well equipped for their personal growth, self-efficacy in an international and global environment, their academic success in the broadest sense, and a strong and mindful future career!
By participating in the GCC program, you will join a dedicated, well-connected, and visible community that is supported by numerous local and international peers and experts.
How to register for GCC?
You can register for the GCC at any time using the ZIH login. After successful registration, the GCC program can be completed at your own pace. We recommend that you invest about two semesters to complete the certificate alongside your study.
It is crucial to enrol in the mandatory introductory seminar, the TUD Global Citizenship Lab (1 ECTS), in time. This introductory seminar is to be offered each semester. If all places are taken, you can register for the waiting list and attend it in a later semester.
The next GCC Lab will take place on 28.06. - 29.06.2024 at the COSMO Science Forum (registration deadline: June 7). The seminar is going to be conducted in German and English with the support of further languages spoken by the participants.
Now: Join us, get involved and educated as a Global Citizen!
