- 1980 - 1985 studies of geodesy
- since 1985 scientific staff at University of Technology Dresden:
- collaboration in the installation of the centre for apprenticeship, further education and research for remote sensing in the former GDR
- technical leadership and teacher in the laboratory for digital image processing in the ZAWF
- provided training in remote sensing, photogrammetry and geoinformatics
- main research in remote sensing and geoinformatics
- 2005 transferred from the department of photogrammetry and remote sensing to the professorship of geoinformation systems
