Prof. Francisco Ramos is Guest Researcher in September 2016

In the last week of September 2016 the Institute of Cartography will host Prof. Francisco Ramos as a guest researcher. Prof. Ramos is associate professor in the Department of Computer Languages and Systems at the University Jaume I (Castelló de la Plana, Spain). His research interests are in the areas of mobile interaction, computer graphics, visualization and GIS. Furthermore Prof. Ramos is technical director and co-founder of Pixelder, a startup company dedicated to develop games as well as innovative mobile apps by using the latest technologies. Since the Institute of Cartography offers a course for mobile app development every winter semester, we hope to gain insight into Prof. Ramos’ practical wealth of experience. Moreover his company pixelder developed an app for uploading pictures at a certain location and assigning an emotion to it. The professorship for cartographic communication deals with extracting space-related emotion from georeferenced user-generated content, hence exchanging ideas and outlining possible research cooperation will be interesting and productive. During his stay at the Institute of Cartography Prof. Ramos will give a two-day course concerning mobile apps.
