The Gaia Early Data Release 3 (EDR3) will be published on December, 3rd 2020 at 12:00 CET. With this release everybody will have access to positions, velocities and distances of roughly 1.8 billion celestial objects. Besides the enourmous amount and precision of the data, one of the scientific highlights is the result of the work done in Dresden under the direction of Prof. Sergei Klioner: the measurement of the acceleration of the Solar System using Gaia data.
On the occasion of the data release several online events will take place all over Europe. In the context of the german event Prof. Klioner will talk about the Gaia team at the Technical university Dresden and explain in detail, why our Solar system is accelerated and how this was measured.
