Fields of research at the chair of Electric Railways
The Chair of Electric Railways, as part of the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, conducts research on Electric Railway Operation from a systemic point of view , based on the two blocks: Traction Power Supply and Electric Railway Vehicles.
The fields of research at the chair of Electric Railways are the electric vehicle, particularly the drive system, the on-board grid and auxiliary systems, mobile energy storage systems and diagnostic systems, the power supply system, particularly the contact line, static grid converters and energy storage systems as well as the designof the power supply system, earthing and current return circuit and interface topics like contact line/collector strips and vehicle – energy storage.
Since 2011 we have participated in the ENUBA research projects and most recently in 2017 upgraded our research fields with the participation in the eHighway field trial research projects in Germany.
