Introduction of the chair
The chair of Electric Railways has been researching and teaching in the field of the electric traffic systems since 1954. Main topics are the electrical energy technology, the railway technology and the electric drive technology. The claim is to understand and describe the electric traffic system as a system that consists of vehicles, power supply facilities and their operation management with all interfaces and interactions.
Research and teaching focus
Beside the electric railways there are the local area traffic systems, the unconventional train/magnetic levitation train systems and the electric road transport part of research and teaching. Main topics are power generation, power transmission and distribution, power supply, the electrical vehicle, current return circuit and influence of electric facilities as well as vehicle and system operation.
