Emeriti
Railroad construction has been taught and researched at the TUD Dresden University of Technology and the Dresden University of Transport since 1873.
The scientific subject of the Chair is the planning, design and construction of railroad systems. It is studied and taught in the fields of railroad facilities - track layout design - clearance investigations - facilities of local transport railroads and unconventional railroads - railroad superstructure and track technology of other railroads - laboratory tests on superstructure components and systems - in-situ measurements in the track.
Direct predecessors of the Chair of Planning and Design of Railway Infrastructure since 1990 were the "Chair of Planning and Design of Railway Infrastructure and Unconventional Railways" (Professor Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Manfred Zschweigert) and the "Chair of Superstructure and Track Technology" (Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Günter Berg), which were merged in 2003 to form the Chair of Planning and Design of Railway Infrastructure with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Fengler as Chairholder.
