The Chair of Mobility System Planning teaches and conducts research on mobility behaviour and transport planning, transport demand modelling as well as on quality and safety in road traffic.

The Chair of Transport Ecology at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences was established in 1994 as the first university professorship in the field of environment and transport. According to the official dedication, "the professorship shall contribute to reducing the environmental impact of transport".

The Chair of Traffic and Transportation Psychology investigates basic forms of behaviour and experience in road traffic as well as possibilities of utilising results from this basic research for practical issues.

The fields of activity of the Chair of Road Planning and Road Design include teaching and research in the field of road planning and design. This includes the recording and evaluation of roads and road networks.

The new Lighthouse Professorship and Chair of Transport Modelling and Simulation has been officially occupied since 1 April 2022. TU Dresden is providing funding for this from the Excellence Initiative to promote the development of the potential area of "Automated and Networked Mobility".
