Traffic and air quality in Stuttgart
Within the work stream “Community Relations”, initiated by the Daimler AG, regional stakeholders are discussing the elaboration of a sustainable transport and traffic policy for Greater Stuttgart. This policy should:
- Contribute to current challenges like the compliance with limits of the particulates PM10 and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) as well as
- Ensure the mobility in the region and fulfill the citizen’s and economy’s mobility needs.
To generate a facts-based foundation for the following discussion, the Chair of Transport Ecology and the Do UX GmbH Tübingen were asked to conduct a study. In that process the Chair’s tasks involve:
- Analyzing available studies of the agglomeration Stuttgart
- Describing the situation regarding traffic and air pollution as well as the trends
- Estimating the traffic- and pollutant-related impacts of a changed behavior in choosing traffic modes
- Participating in different workshops on that subject.
