Chair of Transport Ecology
To achieve sustainable transportation development, the environmental impacts of transportation must be further reduced. The top priorities for research and teaching at the Chair are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants from transportation, while at the same time maintaining a high level of mobility. To this end, we focus primarily on the following areas of research:
- Climate-Friendly Mobility: What measures and transformation pathways are most effective in achieving a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions? What are the advantages, disadvantages, and interactions involved?
- Clean Transportation: What do motor vehicles emit on the road under real-world conditions? How effective are mitigation measures? What is the proportion of high-emitting vehicles? To this end, we analyze remote sensing data from across Germany and Europe.
- The bicycle is a clean, climate-friendly, healthy, and inclusive mode of transportation. Our research analyzes behavior, the effectiveness of measures, and options for staying mobile.
We are continuously refining our approaches and welcome suggestions, collaborations, and new student and Research Associates.
