Research Seminar in Master's Studies
(Master, Winter and Summer Term)
In the research seminar of the master's program, students can deal in depth with a topic from transport econometrics and statistics or transport modeling and simulation and practice writing, presenting and defending a research paper. In-depth knowledge of quantitative methods is required to take the seminar. Preferably, the master lectures "Methods and Models of Traffic Econometrics", "Multivariate Analysis Methods" and "Traffic Dynamics and Simulation" have already been heard.
Please note: There is no introductory event for the research seminar! The course of the seminar is agreed individually with the respective supervisor. This allows you and us a lot of flexibility.
I would like to write my research seminar at the chair of econometrics and statistics, esp. in transportation, what do I have to do?
- Select a topic from the Catalog of topics.
- Contact the supervisor of the topic.
- You are welcome to propose your own topics. Please ask a faculty member of your choice.
Consultation and submission dates are arranged individually with the respective supervisor. The seminar paper should comprise approx. 20 pages. It is sufficient to hand in a bound copy (preferably printed on both sides) with all digital sources on CD-ROM by the agreed deadline. Approximately two weeks after submission of the written work, the results of the work are to be presented in a 20-minute final presentation. The presentation is followed by a 20-minute discussion. The date has to be announced at the secretary's office, Ms. Undeutsch, in time and should be within the dates for the presentation of seminar papers and final papers on a Wednesday starting at 09:20. The presentation has to be uploaded to Opal the evening before the appointment at the latest and will then be available on our chair notebook.
Participation in the research seminar events is desired, but not mandatory.
Further guidelines as well as templates for the paper can be found [here].
