Frequently Asked Questions
If your visa is delayed, you may arrive until the end of October.
Later arrivals will not be accepted because too many lectures, courses, and possibly even examinations will have been missed.
In this case, you will have to postpone the start of your studies by one year. This means:
- Cancellation of current enrollment, refund of semester contribution, re-application
- It is not necessary to re-apply via uni-assist
- You can re-apply easily via the TUD application portal, starting April 1, 2025 (!)
- IO will forward your re-application for the winter semester 2025 to the faculty for a new aptitude assessment
- Information regarding the re-application process under the heading „Repeat Application“
No, enrollment for study programs at our faculty is only possible in the winter semester.
Of yourse, you are encouraged to learn German! This will not only help you get comfortable in Dresden but it also significantly increases your chance of getting a job here - ANY job.
In general, yes.
BUT:
1. For most positions, you need a basic level of German skills.
2. Be mindful of your time here. Concentrate on your studies for the first one or two semesters and then see whether it seems feasible to do internships/part-time jobs in Dresden.
3. More than 10h/week is not recommendable.
4. You will have to find the positions on your own. The university does not provide internships or part-time jobs to students.
No general answer is possible.
Additional needs are depending on the individual student. The following advise may suits to a majority.
1. Concentrate on your study program such as:
- join the lectures actively
- do your homework and self-study time
- Result: figure out your weaknesses
2. Fight the weaknesses pro active, e.g.
- Visit library
- Join learning groups
- Etc.
3. Socialize yourself
- Get in contact with students from different study programs
- Try to learn German
- Find a hobby
Yes, you can - but you will have to reapply officially through the application process of TUD. For our study programs, it is possible only in the winter semester.
