Prospective students visit the Chair of Traffic Process Automation
On 11.09.2025, as part of the "TryING" trial study program, female high school graduates interested in studying traffic sciences took the opportunity to get to know the research content of the Chair of Traffic Process Automation. The aim of the TUD program is to give young women an insight into scientific research areas and to introduce them to the world of engineering. This included giving insights to some of the theoretical principles of traffic process automation as well as selected practical applications.
The visit began with an introduction to the Chair's research work, focusing on issues relating to autonomous driving from a control engineering perspective. The realistic simulation of traffic flows with self-driving mini-cars was demonstrated as a practical example. The bicycle equipped with comprehensive sensor technology was presented as a further test vehicle. Aspects of traffic management were then considered. The opportunities and challenges arising from the use of autonomous vehicles in road traffic were a subject of another joint discussion.
The students actively participated in the discussions and asked critical questions, which underlined their great interest in the topics covered.
