Mobility Systems (Master)

Planning transport systems of the future - data-based and sustainable: The Master's degree program provides in-depth knowledge on the collection and analysis of data on mobility behaviour. The mobility behavior of road users is modeled and its effects on society, the economy and the environment are examined. In addition, methods of mobility planning are taught, particularly with regard to environmentally friendly and innovative mobility options.

Content

Students can choose from a wide range of modules from transportation sciences and related disciplines in an extensive core and extended elective area. This includes methodological skills in data sciences, statistics, modelling, geoinformation systems, environmental sciences and in-depth transport science skills, including the design of infrastructures and transport services in road, rail and air transport, mobility and traffic management, the design of intelligent transport systems (ITS), taking into account the dynamics of automation, digitalization and increased networking of transport services as well as other complementary interdisciplinary topics.

Admission requirements

A first university or equivalent recognized degree in transportation science or a related field (e.g. Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Computer Science, natural science degree programs such as Mathematics, Geography, Geodesy or Transport Economics)
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for applicants without a university degree from a university in the European Union
Aptitude assessment procedure
English language skills at level C1

Suitability assessment

In order to apply for the degree program, an aptitude assessment is required. This can be applied for from 01.04. to 31.05. Applicants with a university degree obtained in Germany can apply for the aptitude assessment until 15.07.

The admission requirements for the Master's degree program Mobility Systems are regulated in the aptitude assessment regulations ( English version: here).
A special aptitude for the degree program exists if the following conditions are met:

Acquisition of at least 50 ECTS credit points from the subject areas of mathematics, physics, computer science and transportation that do not overlap in terms of content, of which:
- at least 10 ECTS credits from the subject area of Advanced Mathematics, including Statistics
- at least 5 ECTS credits from the subject area of computer science, including statistical data analysis
- at least 5 ECTS credits from the subject area of transportation
if applicable, passing an aptitude test.

The admission committee will check proof of special aptitude on the basis of the documents enclosed with the application and, if applicable, the result of the aptitude test. The documents to be submitted are described in detail in the aptitude assessment regulations ( English version: here). Among other things, the signed application form Application for Assessment of Special Aptitude must also be submitted.

Part-Time Studying

The degree program can be studied full-time or part-time (50%). This is suitable if you are caring for children or other relatives alongside your studies or if you have a health condition yourself.

The standard period of study and examination deadlines are doubled when studying part-time. You can switch between part-time and full-time study on a semester-by-semester basis if required. More information on part-time study

A separate study plan is recommended for part-time study. Adjustments must be made when switching between full-time and part-time studies.

Studying Traffic and Transportation Science means job security! 70 percent of our students have their first permanent job while still studying or directly at the end of their studies. Almost all of our graduates enter attractive career paths after three months of job search at the latest. Career planning and orientation is a top priority for us even during our studies - with an annual in-house carreer fair, job portal, alumni association, and much more.

How can cycling be made safer and more attractive? Cycling is climate-friendly and keeps you healthy. What's more, cycling infrastructure requires less space than other forms of mobility.
