Workshop on the new ITS Master program
How do we educate future engineers from Gen Z and Gen Alpha in the field of Traffic Telematics or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)?
How can we make sure our graduates going to public and private stakeholders possess the necessary quantitative modelling skills for evidence-based decision-making of ITS projects?
How should we teach our students to responsibly design and apply information and communication technologies, autonomy, big data and AI to optimize the operations of multimodal transport systems?
How can they make sound assessments of emerging technologies (6G, autonomous vehicles, LLMs, etc.) in human-centred transport systems from technical, transport, societal and sustainable perspectives?
How can we set up an interdisciplinary MSc programme to deal with the structural changes in the ITS job market and the student influx?
These are some of the questions we discussed in the workshop on a potential new MSc programme on ITS at the 'Friedrich List' Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. Our Chair is leading the design process together with the Chair of Information Technology for Traffic Systems . The workshop took place last Monday and marked the kickoff of an exciting process. We appreciate the active participation and discussion from all participants. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you want to learn more or contribute.
