Dr. Endrikat wins SICK-price for environment
Dr. Jan Endrikat received the SICK Environmental Protection Award 2015 from SICK AG for his outstanding dissertation entitled "Coping with ecological issues and gaining competitive advantage." After the Dr. Feldbausch sponsorship award it is already the second award, which he received for his doctoral thesis. The award, sponsored by SICK AG, was presented yesterday evening, October 10, 2016, as part of a ceremonial award ceremony in the rectorate building of TU Dresden.
His doctoral thesis deals essentially with the question of whether environmental protection activities of companies also lead to a better financial performance ("Does it pay to be green?"). Dr. Endrikat aggregates several hundred studies using the method of meta-analysis and investigates which factors explain heterogeneous or contradictory empirical findings in the studies. He demonstrates that environmental protection activities are associated with statistically significant positive effects on the success of the company and environmental performance clearly has a positive impact on financial performance.
The prize was awarded to the best scientific research and dissertation work in the field of environmental protection. After a few introductory remarks by Prof. Dr. Hans Müller-Steinhagen (Rector of the TU Dresden), Prof. Dr. Ronald Tetzlaff (Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of TU Dresden) and Dorothea Sick-Thies (daughter of the founder of the SICK AG Dr. Erwin Sick), all award winners were honored. In addition to Dr. Endrikat, the following researchers were also honored for their work with corresponding prizes:
- SICK measuring technology prize 2015
Dr.-Ing. Daniel Haufe
"Investigation of optical methods for the simultaneous measurement of flow and sound fields in aerosol sound absorbers" (dissertation) - SICK-Advancement Award 2015
Mr Christian Kupsch
„Construction, characterization and application of a plenoptical 3D flow measurement system" (Diploma thesis) - SICK-Young Investors Award 2015
Mr Johannes Gürtler and Mr Bob Fregin
All colleagues congratulate Dr. Jan Endrikat once again on his extraordinary performance. Yesterday's award ceremony was an all-round event, which was a great pleasure for the award winners, laudators, donors as well as the invited guests.
