Defense Financial Analyst Report

On Jan. 10, 2022, the defense of the financial analyst report, virtual due to the pandemic, took place. The companies to be evaluated this year were PNE, Vestas and Nordex each based in the field of wind energy. The participants (3 teams of 5 students) worked on the thesis between August 2021 and January 2022.

The students had the task of comprehensively analyzing the given company, using their knowledge from our master's courses. The focus was on assessing the current economic situation, as well as estimating future developments and determining the value of the company. The analysis was mainly carried out on the basis of the company's publications, such as annual reports and press releases. The students developed a good feeling for the challenges of the industry. Finally, all teams presented their results in a presentation and then discussed them together.

In this run, the company UKA Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen GmbH & Co. KG held the patronage of the module. The "Financial Analyst Report" module was accompanied by a guest lecture on an overview of the renewable energy market by Mr. Maximilian Neef (Head of the International Department). Two teams were led by Dr. Michael Graßmann, another by Ms. Xenia Börner, M. Sc. UKA representatives attended the presentation of the work on 01/10/2022. In the course, the students slip into the role of stock analysts who are asked to evaluate a given company on behalf of an investor. In addition to a strategic analysis, this also includes an analysis of the annual financial statements and a company valuation. The module combines the courses "Financial Statement Analysis", "Strategic Management and Control" and "Business Valuation and Value Based Management" also offered by the professorship and prepares future graduates to master operational and strategic challenges. During the presentations, an exciting discussion arose between the UKA staff and students.
