Adaptation behavior to the impacts of climate change – Implementation of surveys in Russia
Within the research project “Adaptation behavior to the impacts of climate change – research cooperation with Russia concerning climate change awareness” (funded by the German federal ministry for research and education), the chair of Environmental Management and Accounting conducts surveys in Russian cities for the concernment of and adaptation to the impacts of climate change of the Russian society. From 19th till 28th February 2014, two research associates of the chair, Daria Meyr and Julian Meyr, visited 3 partner universities (Plekhanov University Moscow, State Transport University Samara, Ural State University of Railway Transport) to prepare the implementation of the survey. In workshops, students were taught to implement the survey by using standardized interviews. The survey is based on the model of the theory of planned behavior and analyzes the concernment (positive and negative) of extreme weather events such as heavy rainfall, heat and cold waves on individual living conditions, their intention to adapt to these extremes and the implementation of actual adaptation behavior.
Our research associates were warmly welcomed and guided at the partner universities by very motivated students and researchers. Many in-depth discussions showed the high interest and relevance of this research topic in Russia.
Please see on our project site for more information.
